Finding hope in a wasteland of fear…

I don’t know if I’m the only one getting sick and tired of the daily barrage of negative, doom and gloom, end-of-the-world type rhetoric we hear in the news these days, but I have just reached the point where I’ve finally had enough!!

Sure times are tough, things have gotten too big and too wasteful in business, government, and our personal lives. This is a wake up call. A chance to start again and rebuild as the walls are surely coming down all around us. But for that very reason, this is a hopful time. The times are a changin’ folks and this is a moment where we find out what we are made of.

I for one am ready to step outside of the shadows of fear and get to work. How is everyone else feeling at this moment? What’s your story…

  1. I work for Inland Revenue, and the last few weeks could make you wonder if the entire nation (NZ) is awash in redundancy and poverty. Some days it can seem quite dark. But the lovely thing about it is that when things look dark for humanity is when the light is at its brightest. I guess it’s a little like a lighthouse; it looks pretty in the daytime, but it saves countless lives at nighttime, when it’s busy fulfilling its purpose. I think that a lack of purpose and unfulfilled potential is epidemic in the world.

We had a intercessory worship leader and pastor called Ray Watson come through our church a couple of weeks ago. He made a powerful statement that this is the favorable year of the Lord (Isaiah 61) and that we are called to be kingdom rulers on the earth…that it is time to become relevant because our responsibility is to be a channel for the Lord’s blessing on this earth. I like the saying that “God doesn’t care what’s in your pocket as long as there is not one cent of it in your heart”.

We are supposed to be lions, right? It’s about time an army of lions rose up in the land. Let’s get roaring.
