Brouwer’s Christmas CD Receiving Airplay Across The Nation
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (December 2007) – Grammy Award-winning producer Michael Omartian has been tapped to produce the next CD for hit CCM recording artist Matt Brouwer, Nashville-based Indie Extreme has announced.
Brouwer will record his third studio album in Nashville in early 2008. The self-titled CD of original songs is set for release in May 2008 on the newly established Black Shoe Records. Brouwer’s current CD, A Merry Little Christmas, was released last month and is receiving radio airplay across the nation.
“This is Matt Brouwer’s time, in my humble opinion,” said Indie Extreme President Eddie Lambert, who introduced Brouwer and Omartian during GMA Week in Nashville last spring. “Michael is a consummate professional and brilliant musician who has helped establish the careers of Christopher Cross and many others. Matt’s gentleness and Michael’s sensitivity are an ideal match.”
A budding recording artist, Brouwer has already landed hits on the Billboard CCM records chart (I Shall Believe); CCM CHR chart (Water); and the New Music Weekly Hot 100, AC, Indie AC, and Top 40 charts (Surrender). His recent CD, Unlearning (2005), follows his award-winning and critically acclaimed debut CD, Imagerical (2001)
Matt’s holiday EP (2007) features new arrangements of the classics Christmastime is Here, A Holly Jolly Christmas, and Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas, as well as a new original Christmas song penned by Brouwer titled Angels Sing. The project, which retails for $7, can be purchased at http://www.mattbro.com and downloaded at http://www.indieextrememusic.com/matt_brouwer.
“Matt has a maturity to his songs beyond his age,” said Omartian, who has produced major acts such as Amy Grant, Chicago, Rod Stewart, and Christopher Cross. “His music combines down-to-earth elements with a modern touch. I am truly enthusiastic about his artistry and look forward to our time in the studio.”
This has been an exciting year for Brouwer. Last spring, he headlined the Indie Extreme Independent Artist Showcase during GMA Week in Nashville. This fall, his compilation album B-Side Recording Vol. 1 was nominated for a Covenant Award as the “Best Worship Album of the Year” by the Gospel Music Association Canada.
“I’m thrilled to work with one of the most respected producers in the music business,” Brouwer said. “Through the hills and valleys of any music career, there come along seminal moments where everything seems fresh and new again. This is one of those moments for me.”
Omartian is one of the only producers to land number one records three decades and counting. He first surfaced in the early ‘70s as a top session keyboardist, playing on albums by artists such as Steely Dan, the Four Tops, Loggins & Messina, Seals and Crofts, and Koinonia. He graduated to the top ranks of producers through his work with singer/songwriter Christopher Cross, collaborating on a series of hits including the Grammy-winning Sailing, Ride Like the Wind, and Arthur’s Theme (Best That You can Do).
Indie Extreme, a Houston-based independent record label management firm, provides Brouwer’s Black Shoe Records with label administration services such as marketing support, distribution, administration, e-commerce, bookkeeping and inventory management. Black Shoe Records is the first label, amid a growing legion of artist’s independent labels, that Indie Extreme has signed to a management deal.
“It’s an honor working with Matt and his label, Black Shoe Records,” said Indie Extreme CEO Kathy Douglas. “The new holiday CD has been very well received, and we are looking forward to supporting him when he releases his new studio project in 2008.”
